About Us
Croydon Economic Development Company (CEDC) is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. It is an innovative vehicle to lead the delivery of Croydon’s economic development priorities and a key strategic partner of the Local Authority, Local Strategic Partnership, Third Sector, public and private bodies operating within Croydon and the surrounding area. It is delivering a coordinated economic strategy to create an environment where local, national and international businesses can thrive, developing wealth and opportunities for the community.
CEDC understands that its business operations will affect our local and global environment. Therefore CEDC is committed to continual improvements in its environmental performance and will lead by example. The Company will achieve this through regular performance monitoring and measuring, legal compliance, implementation and sharing of best environmental practice.
Our Commitment
This policy explains our intentions and commitment for improved environmental performance. To deliver this policy, Croydon Economic Development Company has the following objectives:
- To continually review, monitor and measure our environmental performance across company procedures, operations and policies and implement best environmental practice across the company
- To comply with existing and current environmental legislations and regulations and to ensure that our partners and suppliers are legally compliant
- To set targets and implement actions to allow the Company to become resource efficient across waste, energy and water within our day to day operations
- To develop a sustainable procurement policy and work place travel plan which will integrate into the Company’s environmental management system and operations
- To regularly communicate and train employees in relation to environmental objectives and best practice
- To communicate to our partners and suppliers the importance of our environmental responsibilities and for our policies to be integrated when planning projects, building partnership working and for external communications including the sustainable delivery of marketing, promotions and events.
- To share best practice and experiences with local businesses and organisations to encourage them to adopt best environmental practice leading to an improved local environment
To meet our commitments we will:
- Provide the CEDC’s executive board regular overviews of the Company’s environmental performance
- Develop an environmental management system which will annually review the Company’s environmental policies and procedures
- Set targets, monitor and communicate key objectives which will improve the environmental performance of the Company
- Communicate to staff any changes in policies and procedures and encourage their feedback.
- Review our environmental policy on a regular basis
- Ensure that our policy is made available for public review when requested and can be accessed via our website
